Mixed clay, Oxidation firing

The “Shape of Things” series is a work that embodies sporadic images of clay into reality through the material.

Most of the work produced during this period is all non-functional objects. Unlike previous works that considered users and functions, Gim tried to implement and materialize personal formative language. In addition, hand-building techniques were actively utilized to mold freer forms, deliberately deviating from the formal structure, which is the limitation of wheel-throwing. Gim believes that the intended forms and images produced effective results due to the harmonious combination of various colored clay.
